Nitrogen Uptake, Use Efficiency, and Productivity of Nigella sativa L. in Response to Fertilization and Plant Density

Nigella sativa L. has been recognized as one of the most important medicinal plants in many parts world for centuries. The purpose current study was to evaluate effects fertilization and plant density on nitrogen uptake, utilization efficiency, productivity N. under Mediterranean conditions. three-year experiment set up a split-plot design with three replications. There were 2 densities; 200 300 m−2 4 levels: control, seaweed compost, farmyard manure inorganic fertilizer. highest seed yield (749–840 kg ha−1) found subjected low-density fertilization. (N) uptake well harvest index (NHI) positively affected by increase available negatively density, their values recorded In conclusion, densities greater than result higher crop growth but lower decreased use efficiency seeds, whereas application fertilizers increases yield, because these present levels solubility thus faster availability comparison organic fertilizers.
